The Juvenile Abuse and Neglect Information System (JANIS), was developed by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia under the direction of the West Virginia Court Improvement Program (CIP). It is funded through Court Improvement Program funding issued by the US Administration for Children and Families. JANIS was created to facilitate and expedite the handling of child abuse and neglect. Further, JANIS captures important data on abuse and neglect cases that is used to inform CIP initiatives.

JANIS offers the following advantages:

  • Secure access using a computer over the internet from anywhere using Internet Explorerâ„¢ or your favorite web browser. The site can be accessed on your smartphone;
  • It is user-friendly;
  • Case and party information needs to be entered only once;

Please send an e-mail to CIP.Analyst@courtswv.gov to request JANIS user account credentials. Access to JANIS is only available to professionals who have a role in child abuse and neglect proceedings.
