JUVENILE DRUG COURTS

TARGET POPULATION

The target population is juveniles 14 to 17 years old (although youth under juvenile jurisdiction for delinquency offenses are eligible until the age of twenty-one) who are non-violent misdemeanor, felony, or drug/alcohol-related offenders with no previous adjudications for a sex offense. A non-violent offense is defined as an act that does not involve the use of a weapon or firearm, or an act that does not result in serious bodily injury to the victim necessitating medical treatment that may include, but is not limited to, an act of assault or battery. A participating juvenile must have a clinical determination of substance abuse or dependence and have a YLS/CMI Rating of being moderate to high risk.

The juvenile must have at least a complaint on file to be accepted into the earliest level of JDC. (See JDC Referral / Assignments)
