Judge Elliott Workman was appointed by Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Oct. 6, 2025, to fill the vacancy in the Tenth Family Court Circuit (Boone and Lincoln Counties) following the retirement of Family Court Judge Bobby R. Hale. She began work on Oct. 27, 2025.
Judge Workman graduated from West Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Minor in History in 2011. She graduated from Capital University Law School in 2014.
Before her appointment, Judge Workman served as an assistant prosecutor in Boone County from August 2023 to October 2025. She has extensive experience in private practice, including work in family law, criminal law, Child Protective Service cases, and frequent service as a guardian ad litem to represent the best interests of children in court proceedings.
She also served from April 2015 to July 2023 as a mental hygiene commissioner, presiding over matters involving individuals and families in crisis.
She received the 2025 Children’s Flag Community Recognition Award from the Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center in Boone County for her work with juveniles and families.
She lives in Madison with her husband and two dogs.
