COURSE CONTENT

The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has approved the online class, Children in Between–High Conflict Solution offered through The Center for Divorce Education, to satisfy the Advanced Child-Focused Parent Education curriculum in Family Court.  The eight (8) hour curriculum is designed to reinforce topics from the Children in Between basic parent education as well as to educate and instruct high conflict parents about the following topics: 

  1. reducing parental conflict;
  2. focusing on their chilren's best interests; and
  3. effectively negotiatin parenting issues.

ATTENDENCE by court order ONLY

In proceedings involving minor children, family courts may order parties to attend advanced child-focused parent education classes for reasons including, but not limited to, the following: repeated court appearances on modification and/or contempt issues related to parenting time and decision-making authority; parties’ apparent inability or unwillingness to resolve conflict effectively; or parties’ communicating inappropriate messages through the children or speaking negatively about the other party or the other party’s family in the presence of the children. Only by order of the court may order parties attend the advanced child-focused parent education classes approved by the supreme court of appeals.

Cost - $75 per class, Paid to the Circuit Clerk in the county of your case.  Retain a copy of the receipt.  The cost of the class is waived if participant qualifies for a fee waiver.

Registration - Upon presentation of court order, the circuit clerk’s office will provide the appropriate registration information based on the attendee’s paid or waived status.

Attend a Class - High Conflict Solutions is offered online to provide convenience and ease for all participants. There is no option to attend a class in person.
