These seven appeals arise from Business Court Division orders that reversed board of assessment appeals decisions concerning the valuation and assessment of natural gas wells (both conventional and horizontal, Marcellus Shale) in Lewis, McDowell, Doddridge, and Ritchie Counties.

The County Commission of Doddridge Co. vs. Antero Resources Corp., No. 18-0228 - The Doddridge County Commission sitting as the Board of Assessment Appeals and the Board of Equalization seeks the reversal of the Business Court's decision and the affirmation of the Boards' rulings on the Tax Department's valuations or in the alternative, for it to be permitted the opportunity to weigh in on these valuation issues and protect its interests in the valuation of Marcellus Shale producing horizontal oil and gas wells in Doddridge County for tax purposes.

EQT Production Company vs. Margot Beth Crowder, et al. , No. 17-0968 - Petitioner appeals the circuit court’s award of summary judgment to respondents on their claims of trespass. Petitioner argues that the circuit court erred in finding that the petitioner was not entitled to the reasonably necessary use of the surface lands of respondents’ property to extract minerals from properties neighboring respondents’ property or properties pooled with respondents’ property.
