In Re: I.M.K, No. 17-0989 - Questions Certified by The Lewis County Circuit Court:
1. When an infant child is born alive, but dies during the pendency of an abuse and neglect proceeding, prior to adjudication, and said infant child is the only child in the home, may the matter proceed to an adjudicatory hearing, and may the deceased child be found and adjudicated to be an abused or neglected child?
2. If an infant child is born alive, but dies during the pendency of an abuse and neglect proceeding, and said infant child is the only child in the home, should the guardian ad litem remain a party to the proceeding to advocate for the rights of the deceased child?

Carl Clark v. Kanawha County Board of Education, 17-0616 - Petitioner appeals the circuit court’s grant of respondent’s motion for judgment as a matter of law in his action for age discrimination and emotional distress related to the boys’ basketball coaching position at Capital High School.

Dennis Richards, Jr. v. Andrew Walker, et al., 17-0591 - Petitioner appeals the June 2, 2017, order of the Circuit Court of Calhoun County that dismissed his claims of malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent employment, after Chief Walker failed to appear at the administrative hearing for petitioner’s DUI claim on three occasions.
