Judge Ryan White is the first elected Judge to the Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia. In 2024, he was elected to serve a 10 year term beginning January 1, 2025.

He was born in 1978, in Charleston, West Virginia. In 2001 he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Michigan. In 2005 he received his law degree from West Virginia University, graduating Order of the Coif.

After clerking for Judge Joseph Robert Goodwin of the Southern District of West Virginia, he joined Jackson Kelly. In 2012, he formed White Law Offices with his father, Steve White. Mark Matkovich joined the law firm in 2017. Judge White specialized in public finance, property, municipal, corporate, administrative law, litigation, tax, utility, and nonprofit law.

Judge White also served as counsel to the West Virginia Senate Finance Committee and Economic Development Committee from 2009-2011. He was elected three times to the Kanawha County Board of Education beginning in 2014 and served until 2024.

He is married to fellow attorney, Kate White, who is now a member of the Kanawha County Board of Education. They share three children together.
